Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition

Home Outreach Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition

An annual competition held in all 6 inhabited continents for high school students to design a human settlement in Space. The Asian semifinals are organsied by Atlantis and held in New Delhi. The finals take place at the Kennedy Space Center every year in July.

This competition focuses on taking you through 36 years of legacy and an educational product that is developed entirely by engineers. We believe that young high school students can learn almost anything given the right tools. And this tool by far is the best for teaching you Management skills and realtime industry skills that most people spend decades to learn in the industry while on the job. This contest puts high school students in the shoes of aerospace industry engineers designing a city in space that will be a home for over 10,000 people.

Each year the Competition organizers develop a new design concept with its own special requirements. Contest teams work together to create a 40-page report (see samples from index) that addresses the issues and communicates their ideas and designs.

SNAPSHOT OF THE SPACE SETTLEMENT DESIGN COMPETITION

Asian Regional Space Settlement Design Competition (ARSSDC)....Well, this is an amazing arena which basically looks forward to enhancing the industrial skills among high school students through an adventurous and fun-loving experience. We got friends from all over the world participating in this adventure. We where 43 registered teams for the competition from which 10 of us where selected to be the semifinalists at the competition and 5 runners up and 5 invited teams. Bishop Cotton Boys’ School, is the school which I represented. We where one among the 10 semifinalists and have been an active part of the competition in the past years too. In fact, we had once won it too. This time we where the runners-up at the semifinalists competition and am sure that we missed by just a little margin.

Next, the NASA part. The teams that wins here has to compete against teams from different parts of the world from all the continents and that brilliant team that wins the International Space Settlement Design Competition...might as well refer themselves as the “Top of the world”. This competition not only looks into the education part but also unleashes the hidden talents of many students. I am actually a shy guy but after meeting these many people...was able to expose My self a lot to people from all over the world.... So to sum it all up, this space adventure was and “OUT OF THE WORLD EXPERIENCE``
