SCIENCE IS FAR TOO IMPORTANT
NOT TO BE A PART OF OUR EVERYDAY CULTURE
Dr. Brian Cox
In tune with our core philosophy of education through experience, Atlantis thrives to introduce new STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) based experiential learning programs.
The SciTrek is a series of Science workshops designed for empowering students to investigate and enquire the principles of Science, while enjoying the thrill of experiencing and exploring the mysteries of the world in a learning environment that is fun and exploratory.
We offer customised curriculums that can be 90 minutes long or span the entire academic year, with basic, intermediate and advanced modules that can extend over multiple years. We aim at complementing the existing subject curriculums with hands-on activities and supplemental theory. We have activities spanning Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electronics, Mechatronics, Robotics, Astronomy, Astrophotography and more, offer these solutions using state-of-the-art equipment and improvised tools.
The ability to perceive things through vision is one of the greatest treasures bestowed on living beings. As a global effort to spread awareness about the vital role played by light in our everyday lives, The United Nations designated year 2015 as the International Year of Light.
Through a series of special presentations and hands-on activities, it is our endeavour to provide a clear and engaging foundation of understanding the properties of light in its various forms.
The Activities focus on the following:
Our everyday lives today depend on machines and electricity. Almost every minute of our lives in our developing technology driven society utilizes these two fundamental elements. This camp is primarily focused on providing a valuable practical insight into the workings of machines by encouraging students to build their own machines and explore the basics of the phenomenon of electricity and magnetism.
The Activities focus on the following:
The Natural and Biological Sciences encompass an almost limitless environment to explore. Living beings are the most complicated machines created by Nature. In this program, we strive to dive deep into the extraordinary workings of the natural world, wondering over the various miracles of natural creation, while providing a foundational understanding of some of the core elements of natural science and biology.
The Activities focus on the following:
The scientific study of any phenomenon further leads into a more detailed enquiry of the matter involved. What is the matter around us made up of? How are things different from each other? How things interact with each other? In this camp, we study the love and hate relationships of different chemicals available in day-to-day life. Exploring the world of chemistry, fluid dynamics and sound, we aim to build a conceptual foundation that will serve as a valuable tool for future studies in these areas.
The Activities focus on the following:
Mathematics is said to be the language of Science. Science would find itself inexpressible without the numbers, the equations and the structures of mathematics. In this camp, we present mathematics not only as an important practical tool of our day to day lives, but also as Nature’s way of incredibly expressing itself in various forms of mathematical concepts. It is our endeavour to introduce students to the fun and beauty of playing with lines, angles, tables and geometric structures.
The Activities focus on the following:
The night sky blazing with stars has always captured our imagination. Astronomy, one of the oldest sciences, entails not only the study of the solar system and cosmos, but an almost endless array of topics that includes physics, mathematics, thermodynamics, optics, robotics, and even chemistry. During this camp, students explore these various aspects, while also building a foundation of knowledge about our unique place in the Universe and the amazing evolution of our beautiful home in space- the Earth.
The Activities focus on the following:
Recommended age group for students is from age 9 to 16 years.
