Educational Curriculums all over the world incorporate a Science Program in them. It is almost mandatory that students all over the world study Science. But what is it about Science Programs that students at the elementary and middle school level are made to study Science? Why is the study of a Science Program crucial to the development of a child? Not all students grow up to study Science, then why as children are we all made to undergo Science Programs?
Well, an obvious answer to the above questions is the fact that Science is everywhere around us. The study of our own body is called Science, the medicines we take when we fall ill; the machines we use in our day to day lives, the telephones we use to communicate; the technology which has become so important to our survival are all results of Science. It won’t be an exaggeration if we say that Science is an attitude of life, and undergoing a Science Program prepares you for life with the correct attitude.
1. Science is important for the survival of the human body:
It is imperative that as humans living in a diverse ecosystem, we understand how our own bodies function and how the various species of flora and fauna coexist as one system. Understanding the interdependence makes us responsible beings. A biology-based Science program not only gives us the understanding of the living world around us, it also tells us about the vast world existing inside us. The marvels of our own body our too many to fathom. The Human anatomy not only makes us aware of the wonder contained in our own body, but it also gives us ways to live a healthier life, and when we fall sick, the medical science helps us get back to being healthy.
2. A Science Program is an introduction to the simple machines that have made our life easy and adventurous:
Starting from the shower that we use to take a bath to the lighter that our mother uses in the kitchen to make food for us; all these small and big inventions are attributed to Science. Even the mechanism by which the water reaches the taps in our houses, which we take for granted, is the result of scientific inventions. A Science Program is so much fun to attend because it enables us to discover how these machines came into existence. Not just that, we develop an attitude to improvise and innovate giving way to technological advancements.
3. We need the Energy to live:
Energy drives the fans and the ACs in our homes. The electricity is a form of energy. Our vehicles, right from the two-wheelers to the cars, the buses and the metro need the energy to run. A Science Program introduces us to all the forms of energy that we use in abundance around us. Starting with the Sun, which is the ultimate source of energy on Earth, to the Atomic bombs, a science program introduces us the how this energy is produced, how it reaches us, how it changes form from one to another, and why it is necessary to preserve it. All in all, Science is in everything around us. Taking a Science Program is a beginning of understanding the world we live in, and in how to make it a better place to live.
